Making A server

Hello Guys i am wanting to make a server for friends that we can play on but when i try to make one it says its offline and cant be used how do i make a server.
i dont have enough computer skill to know how to do it.

@VoseVaer What OS are you using? Just asking as I saw you logged into my server yesterday. I can tell you, Linux is not as nice as one would want... takes a bit of fudging. Windows is obviously the preferred method but, you have to have that system running only this as the server. That is, unless you have gobs of RAM on said system then, anything is possible!

@robertharju hey sorry for the late response what server are you on that i logged onto i am now on ther server tree of hope i think is what its called and i am only able to play on the weekend.
