    Prologue
    =========

    Hi.
    I decided to look forward or more knowledge about food tiers and skill point gain.
    To understand appropriate and healthy eating in ECO we need to use balanced diet which is confusing a little bit.

    There are various tiers of food that gives better skill point gain.

    Thanks to Gnollmar for creating very helpful cooing spreadsheet which allowed me to finish my work

    ============
    Guide: First Thoughts
    ============

    If something is marked as "Optional" it means - It depends on the created world !!!

    -> Basic World issue:

    • Wheat doesn't exist or is rare
    • In the woods there are plenty of animals, huckleberries and fiddleheads
    • Beans, Camas Bulbs, Corn are rare
    • Peach Fruits are most difficult to find

    Desert Picking (World Creation issue)

    • At the beginning of the game, rush to find desert and pick Peach Fruits
    • Desert areas may be rare
    • To achieve this goal You may need a lot of time
    • You will achieve perfect multiplier balance at the beginning of the game without spending any points
    • Eating one will grant you maximised multiplier and if You log out at this point after 8 hours You receive additional 13/14 skill points
    • If You are playing in a community it is a good idea to get Harvesting1, Desert Drifter1 - 6 points total
    • Unfortunately this idea work only for community on specific world with more deserts

    -> Solo Playing

    • Starting with 1000 Calories
    • Head into woods, find flat terrain
    • Skills required to progress ASAP with Skill Points are
    • Logging1, BasicCrafting1 - 2 skill points total
    • Cut four trees - 28 hits, 280 calorie used
    • Leave stumps... for now (7 hits at this level)
    • Cut Trees into logs - at least 5 hits each, 200 calorie used
    • Place Workbench
    • Minning1, Laborer1 - 2 skill points used
    • Find Stone, pick it, bring to Workbench - 17 calorie for hit, 17 calorie or pick
    • Optional: Try to find dead animals (?) [elks, turkeys, rabbits]
    • If no dead animals around
    • Hunting1 - 1 skill point used
    • Hunt - 17 calorie per shot, turkey 2 shots > rabbit 1 shot, turkeys are slow and are easiest to hunt unlike rabbits/elks whih will run away fast
    • Optional: Look for resources like coal, plant locations, good looking locations w/e You have in mind
    • Craft arrows at workbench
    • Campfire Cooking1 - 1 skill point used
    • Craft and place Campfire
    • Fill the power tab with fuel (wood logs)
    • Optional: Find Plants (could be done earlier)
    • Camas Bulb - Aim at least for 5 which is 3-5(?) shovel uses, 51-79 calorie
    • Beans - Pick them, No calorie used
    • Start Cooking

    Guide Creator notes:

    • By this point You have used at least 515 calories (1000 start) plus 51-79 for Camas Bulbs plus hunting at least 34, with mistakes I made it with 800
    • I used 6 skill points in total
    • Have in mind that for construction You don't need hammer, axe is enough
    • World Dependend - I managed to find carcasses without hunting, but I did hunt one turkey
    • I found a lot of huckleberries and fiddleheads while hunting in the woods

    -> Eating

    • Charred Meat + Forest Plants
    • Until You get more skill points

    On the server I play on Camas are quite rare so I also added one beginner's combination
    (limited to Campfire Cooking 4) without use of Camas and focus on as few ingredients as possible:

  • That prickly peach fruit looks amazing for the early game. Just from looking at the numbers you've posted though, it seems they have reduced the overall skills per day you can get. Have they also reduced the amount of skill points needed for skills overall or is this their way of slowing down game progress, because honestly if you beeline it through the cooking skills it gets easy to reach the 300 to 400+ range by day 6 or 7, maybe day 5 if dedicate hard and keep a group of friends fed to do the other jobs for you and a little bit of a slow down would be nice.

  • On my test Server I have searched 10 desert areas, found one cacti which gave me seed, not fruit - so... not that good so far
    Same goes for Camas Bulb, I've found 5-10 flowers
    It took me about 30 minutes of searching...

    As stated above, it is up to server creation - which stats will be implemented during creations.

    Another server I've played there were high mountains with plenty of fireweed shoots and beans on top of the mountain.

  • Any updates to this for 5.5.1?

  • Honestly, I was waiting for a sign from Devs.
    I will take a look at that.

  • Fixed cooking recipe timers
    Added new recipes
    Added results

  • This post is awesome, possibly the best thread in this entire forum. Is there any chance it can be updated again for 6.2?

    Wishful thinking,

    /Adam

  • I may have time in the beggining of the January to sit down and make, a new one for 6.3 including work done by @gnollmar who did spreadsheet.

  • That would be awesome. =) Glad to see you still hangin around. Will have to make do whith this chart and some tasting on my own till then
